Santos defeats Curitiba at Coto Pereira Stadium with Angolo goal in stoppage time

Santos beat Curitiba 2-1 tonight (8), at Coto Pereira Stadium, in a match valid for the 21st round of the Brazilian Championship. The three goals of the match came in the second half: Madson opened the scoring for Bixe, and Leo Gamaglio equalized for Coxa. In the last step, Angulo, who had just entered, replaced Alvinegro from the beach front.

This was Lesca’s first win against Santos in three matches – they drew with Fortaleza and Fluminense.

After the quiet first half, which was marked by very few requests, but many fouls and wrong passes, the teams grew into the final stage and fought a busier duel. Coach Liska did not have the right side Nathan and midfielder Luanne, reinforcements hired by Pixie this window.

As a result, Santos returned to the ninth place in the standings table with 30 points. Coxa is 15th with 22 points, only one point behind Fortaleza, which opens the relegation zone.

In the next round of the Brazilian League, Santos will face America-MG, at Independencia, on Sunday (14), at 6 pm. On the same day, but at 11 am, Coritiba receives Atlético-MG and plays again at Couto Pereira.

Live from Santos

Liska’s star shines

Minutes after Angelo and Angolo put on the field, it was precisely the goal from the feet of the two that gave Santos the win, in the 47th minute of the second half. Menino da Villa pulled off a good run and served the Ecuadorean who sent him down the net and awarded the three points to Pixie.

Who Worked Well: Carlos Sanchez

The Uruguayan hasn’t made great moves, far from it, but he has tried to lead Santos, who are struggling to shake off Curitiba’s defence. Madson assisted, as well as nearly scored from outside the area with a shot that Moralha defended in the second half.

Who Was Bad: Eduardo Borman

Returning to the team after being suspended in the last round, defender Leo Jamalho was left free in the area in a draw in favor of Coritiba.

Game timeline

There was no emotion in the first half of the duel in Koto Pereira. Coritiba and Santos created very few chances for the match, made many mistakes and lost an impressive amount of passes in 45 minutes, more additions, drowsiness. Score: Zero did not leave the scoreboard.

The second half started completely differently: in the first minute, Madison, with a header, opened the scoring for Santos, after taking advantage of a corner kick from Sanchez. At the age of 11, Leo Gamalo, with his head too, left everything intact and replaced Curitiba in the match. Angulo, 47, put Pixie up front: 2 to 1.

Santos game

Santos even managed to control the match, but he owed the creation of the plays. Pixie missed a lot on the last pass and took advantage of the dead ball to open the scoring. In the last stage, he managed to put some offensive pressure and got two good chances, one with Marcos Leonardo and the other with Sanchez. Defensively, the team faltered when Leo Gamalio was left unmarked.

Curitiba game

Curitiba did not appear to be playing at home in the first half. Fragile in attack, Coxa got stuck in Santos’ defense and the first stage faded despite the support of the fans, who made the traditional “green hell” in the stands before the ball was rolled. She increased in performance in the last 45 minutes, when I started to have more chances. However, it produced very little.

Madson scores against ‘Former Contender’

Santos’ first target, the right-back arrived at Peixe at the end of 2019, the year he played on loan from Grêmio at Athletico-PR, Coritiba’s biggest rival. It was his third goal this season. Maddison should not be getting a renewed contract with Pixie and the trend is that he will leave the club at the end of this season.

Leo Jamalho left free and does not forgive

The central attacker’s main characteristic is aerial play, and Santos did exactly what he wanted: he was left free to head over and tied the match, in one of Curitiba’s few chances in the match.

The struggle between fans

Before the ball rolled, fans of Curitiba and Santos, at the start of confusion in the stands of Coto Pereira, entered the split between home and guest. The broadcast of the match caught the moment, and was quickly taken over by the police. It should be noted that in the first round, the fans were engaged in a general struggle in the vicinity of Villa Belmiro, which caused the duelists of the two teams in the Copa del Rey to play with one audience.
