BVB individual criticism against Augsburg: Twice Grade 1 in wild spectacle

16th day of the Bundesliga

BVB against FC Augsburg on the 16th day of the Bundesliga: All the notes of Borussia Dortmund in the individual review.

Dortmund – Borussia Dortmund have started the Bundesliga year 2023 with a rollercoaster of emotions. Substitutes Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Giovanni Reyna were the difference maker in BVB’s 4-3 win over FC Augsburg. Individual criticism and ratings.

BVB individual review vs Augsburg: All Borussia Dortmund ratings at a glance

Gregory Kobel: Almost remained unemployed in the first semester. Two shots came in his goal, both inside. When Arne Maier equalized 1:1 with no chance to defend (37th), also with Demirovic’s chip ball to make it 2:2 (45th) and Colina’s sweep to make it 3:3 (77th) left alone. He did not stand out, he was not always very concentrated in the passing game. level 4

Julian Ryerson: The new Union Berlin signing ousted Niklas Süle just days after joining the BVB right back. Initially had the most ball action of any player on the court. Unfortunately also defensively: Unintentionally pushing the ball until Demirovic equalized 2-2 above his own goal line (45th). Not so much in the second half. Footnote 3

BVB individual criticism against Augsburg: Nico Schlotterbeck between genius and madness

Matt Hummels: Appeared dangerously in front of the Augsburg goal again and again by standards. He headed a precise free kick from Raphael Guerreiro (37th) away from the frame (37th), after receiving a pass from Julian Brandt he aimed too centered on Gikiewicz (45th). Because coordination with Schlotterbeck was poor when Unions equalized 2:2, he couldn’t keep up with Demirovic. Rating: 3.5

Nico Schlotterbeck: It was a constant back and forth, Bitter his reckless loss of the ball, which led FCA to equalize 1-1 (40th). He made up for his error two minutes later by taking a free kick from Julian Brandt to bring the score to 2-1 (2-2). Added another blackout after 77 minutes as he prepared to make it 3-3 by losing possession again. And redeemed himself again because he initiated Reyna’s 4-3 with a long shot from the top (78th). Defensive work should be his main skill, his performance was too unstable for that. “Too careless,” he later admitted to DAZN. level 4

Individual criticism of BVB against Augsburg: Salih Özcan has no control in midfield

Raphael Guerreiro: Commendable: The BVB left-back also helped defensively this time. In the last second he let the 5-3 lie lie and fell on the pitch at the final whistle, exhausted but happy. Footnote 3

Salih Ozcan: Was duped by Maier in the 1-1 equaliser. At 2:2 he could not prevent Engels’ pass upwards. Again not the hoped-for stabilizer in the BVB midfield. level 5

Individual criticism of BVB against Augsburg: Jude Bellingham convinces in the first half

Jude Bellingham: Director cautious in midfield, distributed the balls wisely. The height: his hook at the edge of the penalty area, including a tight finish to bring the score to 1-0 for BVB (30th). As a motivating factor, fired up other players and the public. Negative: Not indifferent on the two goals conceded, before the 2-2 he lost the ball and a little less dominant as the match progressed. Rating: 2.5

Karim Adeyemi: Worked diligently, did a lot of running work all over the place. Especially failed to dribble. But he could enjoy his first Bundesliga assist as he put the ball past Jude Bellingham before his solo to make it 1-0. Later more and more discreet. level 4

Individual criticism of BVB against Augsburg: Donyell Malen unsubscribed

Julian Brandt: It’s all about standards! Nico Schlotterbeck sunk his beautiful cross free kick to bring the score to 2-1 for BVB (42nd). There was also a great opportunity for Moukoko (23rd). Overall ok. Unfortunately, he made several unnecessary ball losses. Rating: 3.5

Donyell Painting: Failure of his first degree at Gikiewicz (18th). Otherwise, another much too discreet match from the Dutchman. Rating: 4.5

Individual criticism of BVB against Augsburg: Moukoko disappointed and Haller celebrated

Youssoufa Moukoko: He chased his first degree in the clouds after 2 minutes. After 23 minutes, he pushed the ball past the goal completely on his own. Otherwise completely pale. level 5

Sebastien Haller: Replaced Youssoufa Moukoko after 61 minutes and was greeted with deafening chants. Too bad for him that Gio Reyna missed the right moment just before the end. The stadium would have shaken if he had scored a return goal. Footnote 3

BVB individual criticism against Augsburg: Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Giovanni Reyna rush to the rescue

John Reyn: Substituted for Donyell Malen after 70 minutes. Eight minutes later he fired a fantastic volley into the corner to make it 4-3. Could have hung up for Sebastien Haller to make it 5-3 after 84 minutes, but missed. Rating: 1.5

Jamie Bynoe Gittens: Also came on after 70 minutes. He replaced Karim Adeyemi. Three minutes later, he eluded the entire Augsburg defense and sent the ball into the net to make it 3-2. Gumny prevented another goal to make it 5-3, and after 87 minutes he put himself in the line of fire. Footnote 1
