FC Bayern: After the summer transfer, there are 5 sites left for Salihamidzic

The search for a replacement for Manuel Neuer is over, Hasan Salihamidzic is relieved – but the sporting director of FC Bayern and his team still have little time to catch their breath!

SPORT1 outlines what’s on Salihamidzic officials’ agenda with high priority after the goalkeeper search is over. (NEWS: All current Bundesliga news)

The Laimer transfer

Bayern have been in agreement with Leipzig professional Konrad Laimer for months. Nevertheless, there are still a few formalities to be clarified before the official signing can be given and the transfer of the desired “pressing machine” can be described by coach Julian Nagelsmann as completely settled. (Report: The doubts of eternal summer)

But most of the work has already been done. If there are no more big surprises, Laimer comes for free in the new season.

Choupo Moting Poker

Discussions are already underway on the future of Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, the goalkeeper for the first part of the season (currently on 12 goals in 17 appearances). The Cameroonian feels very comfortable in Munich and enjoys a high standing in the Bayern locker room.

However, officials should be prepared for tough negotiations with adviser Roger Wittmann, as Choupo-Moting, soon to be 34, is finally on his last big contract. “It’s not so easy with Wittmann, he sometimes mixes up the zeros,” Bayern honorary president Uli Hoeneß said on Sunday. STEEL-Double pass SPORT1 see through.

With a gross annual salary of less than 5 million euros, Choupo-Moting is currently one of the low earners of Nagelsmann’s workforce. (News: Sepp Maier attacks Bayern)

A clean jump will be needed if Choupo-Moting continues to shoot reliably, like in Friday’s Bundesliga return to Leipzig. However, Salihamidzic is confident. He talked about the game against RB DAZN: “It looks good. Choupo wants, so do we. Now let’s see how far we can go.”

An important point in addition to the salary: the duration. With players over 30, Bayern usually only extend their contracts for a year. At the moment, it’s still debatable whether the Hamburg native would be happy with it. (DATA: The Bundesliga table)

Foreign clubs are not lacking in interest. Last summer, Choupo-Moting received a lucrative offer from the Arab world. His market is better now – also because he can now leave the FCB stand for free after the season.

The search for the attacker

Bayern need to plan in two ways. Therefore, the bosses are still looking for a striker who could come if Choupo-Moting is not extended. Either way, Salihamidzic and Co. will have to look for a new striker who can guarantee goals in the coming years. There are several candidates, but no clear number one.

Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur) would be the best sporting solution, a real emergency aid, but for the Englishman, Munich would have to stretch enormously economically. Hoeneß: “Kane is a great player. But it’s an order of magnitude – I know Manchester City gave up at 140 or 150 million last year and I can’t imagine these are amounts that FC Bayern want or can pay.”

The tracks of other attackers like Randal Kolo Muani (Eintracht Frankfurt) or Marcus Thuram (Borussia Mönchengladbach) are not hot at the moment either. And there’s no interest in Chelsea FC’s Kai Havertz as Bayern bosses don’t see the national player as a true nine and the 10 is for Jamal Musiala anyway. (DATA: Bundesliga results)

The future Pavard

Benjamin Pavard tends to say goodbye in summer. Discussions in the coming weeks should clarify how serious the defensive all-rounder, who doubted his future at Bayern last year, is this time. (Pavard rumours: Here’s how Bayern are reacting)

Should Pavard formally submit his switch request, Bayern bosses would force a sale this summer. Salihamidzic and Cie also do not want to hesitate too much in the Pavard affair, because they would find a new right side in the event of the Frenchman’s departure. The exploratory phase of team planner Marco Neppe and head scout Markus Pilawa has been underway for a long time. (DATA: Bundesliga schedule)

The Hernandez Extension

With the compatriot and friend of Pavard Lucas Hernández, Bayern still wants to extend. Talks with Hernández’s team around adviser Manuel Garcia Quilon continue despite the 26-year-old’s serious knee injury.

Salihamidzic wants to get things done before the end of the season and clarify Hernández’s future. Like that of Pavard, his contract runs until 2024.
