The world champion and Borussia have reached an agreement. The employment relationship will be continued, i.e. the contract was recently extended prematurely until 2025.
“I have never hidden the fact that I feel super comfortable here”, says Christoph Kramer (31).
The midfield star and Borussia Mönchengladbach had a clear relationship at the start of the year.
Kramer: “Without getting too sentimental, but Borussia is a very special club for me. The people here are special for me. I like to get in front of the ball every day. The fans, the people who work here, the staff, the team – I feel very comfortable there. They are the biggest part of having a lot of fun in my life.
Gladbach coach Farke on Kramer’s extension: “It’s a good sign”
Asked about Kramer’s commitment to the Bas-Rhin team, his coach Daniel Farke (46) underlines: “It’s a good sign. From Borussia, but also from Chris. Congratulations to Chris for having crossed this Congratulations to the club management for extending such a deserving player in this form.”
Kramer remains at Borussia. Because the native of Solingen is “totally convinced”, assures Farke, from Gladbach. And the club are still convinced of Kramer’s abilities.
Coach Roland Virkus (56) has thus taken another step in his arduous mission to restore stability to the staff at VfL Borussia.
Kramer, who is one of Borussia Park’s pursers, is one of the guys who can approach things more clearly in the squad when the time comes.
And Kramer is also very clear when GladbachLIVE pushes him after his sports development contract extension at Borussia.
“If someone had told me this summer that we would play the first half of the season as we did, I would have accepted it straight away. We were in a really, very complicated situation. It was also a complicated situation internally. We’ve mastered that for now. I wouldn’t just make it all depend on the situation at the table.”
As a reminder: Gladbach separated from Adi Hütter (52), the most expensive coach in the history of the club, in May 2022 after less than a year of collaboration.
In addition, there were a lot of rumblings among the supporters at the base of the club. Parts of the active fan scene have even temporarily withdrawn their faith in Elf Colt.
Highlight: The banner “No fight, no will, no character – you are a disgrace to the city and the club!” in the Gladbach block in Freiburg in April 2022.
In the meantime, the fans and the team are once again walking the “Borussia path” together.
Christoph Kramer therefore underlines with a view to the rest of the season: “We must ensure that our supporters, and there are a lot of them, can once again identify with the club and say to themselves: it’s fun to look at you, “I’m a happy Borussia Mönchengladbach fan. We lost that feeling a bit last year – and that’s the main task. What it looks like then in table form is another aspect.
Gladbach have found their way back to success under Daniel Farke, and after 15 matchdays the Colts are within striking distance of European Cup places.
Kramer: “Of course we are ambitious, we want to go as high as possible, which is pretty clear.”
If Kramer acts as a top player under coach Farke in the new year as he did at the start of the season, when he was even briefly linked with a place in the team again DFB, Borussia’s chances on the arduous path back to the European Cup should increase further this season.
Kramer: “It had to work for me in the preliminary round. If not, I don’t know if this would have happened with the extension. It’s not just about what I want, but also what the club wants. I can’t make myself an offer. So the coach also plays a big role. I’m glad it turned out that way.”
It’s no secret that Kramer pulled himself out of a personal performance slump under Farke. What has so far turned out to be a win-win situation for everyone involved, as the past few months have shown.
